The PRAM reset with Command/Option/P/R worked for me.
If you face this problem, try it out.

Absolutely fixed my problem (resetting the PRAM). I was reading horror stories of users sending in their MacBooks, having bits and pieces replaced, only to have the problem reoccur. So you can imagine my joy of no losing my laptop for 2-3 weeks. P and R are my new favorite letters
